As you may have heard earlier today on Wired, the props, costumes, and even some of the sets and large set-pieces from Battlestar Galactica will be auctioned off in December.
Before I buy my own Raptor and fly away, I thought I’d mention the auction to you, dear reader. And also add that if I cannot afford to buy a Raptor, I will in most likelihood make do with the “auction catalogue”, which will be the best way to sort of almost (but not really) have a spaceship or a set-piece or a costume of your very own. (It will at least be a pretty book).
No details on how to order it yet, but the maker says “The first print catalog will be out December 8th. It will cost $ 35 plus postage”. I expect it will be sold at www.battlestarprops.com. I suggest checking every few days rather than trusting the “December 8” date. After all they could start pre-orders regardless of when it actually gets printed.
They say: “There will be plenty of catalogs to go around. Plan is one paperback version for Live Auction #1, a second for Live Auction #2. For Auction # 2 we will also be doing a hard bound, slip cased collectors version with an additional supplement of all the Internet auctions. That is just a labor of love that we will be doing because we love this stuff. Traditionally, Auction catalogs cost between $ 35 and $ 50 each. We will be on the low end of that I would think.” and “The catalog will be a beautiful 300 page catalog of the 800 items in the first auction, and be an instant collectible. Every Battlestar Galactica fan will want a copy!”.
Don’t tell anyone. Seriously. They’re going to sell out.
