The peanut butter recall now effects us:
Snack Bar Product Recalls:
Optimum Energy Bars
I’ve eaten at least one of these. I had a Clif MOJO Peanut Butter & Pretzel bar from Target a couple weeks ago. But I’m not worried:
“the bacteria behind the outbreak is common and not an unusually dangerous strain but that the elderly or those with weakened immune systems are more at risk…Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) can cause diarrhea (which may be bloody), fever, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Symptoms typically start 12-72 hours after infection… Treatment: Some doctors recommend no antibiotics since the disease is self-limited, while others suggest using antibiotics for 10-14 days.”
The real problem is that I love peanut butter and that it may be awhile before these protein bars return to store shelves with a clean bill of health.
