PreOrder first wave of Battlestar Galactica figures NOW

Hey, because I luurv all you Boulderites who read this via Ben’s blog, I thought I’d give you all a heads up that as of a few hours ago you can pre-order 5 of the first wave of 7 Battlestar Galactica action figures at ActionFigureXpress.

It is true that a couple other dealers started offering pre-orders for 4 of the figures a couple days ago, but only AFX includes Helo (Boomer’s co-pilot, stranded on Cylon-occupied Caprica, you know the deal). So for a grand total of about $70 after shipping to Boulder, you’ll get these 5 figures:

  • Number Six (Red Dress)
  • Lee “Apollo” Adama (Flight Suit)
  • Helo (Action Figure Xpress Exclusive)
  • Hotdog (Flight Suit) (a “short packed” figure made in smaller quantities, also known as a “chase” figure)
  • Number Six (Caprica Six) (Previews Exclusive in black outfit)

After that, all you’ll need to find to complete your first wave is to stay alert for ways to locate the following two figures:

  • Samuel Anders (BigBadToyStore.com and Suncoast/FYE Exclusive)
  • Chief Tyrol (DST Store Exclusive)

And that completes wave one. The makers of this line explain in a recent newsletter what to expect with future waves: “Two core figures and one chase figure are scheduled for each wave. With anywhere from one to three exclusive figures, this number could technically reach as high as seven!” It took me a moment to notice, since I’m not too skilled on math myself, but I love their arithmetic (3+3=7)! Hey, anything to get the entire cast of characters.

The first wave won’t even be made until later this year, and they won’t arrive until November. By then you won’t even remember you ordered them and it will be like the UPS man is bringing you gifts. Or if you move, the UPS man may bring whoever is next in your apartment free gifts.

Update: Unfortunately, the prototype of Helo doesn’t look much like the actor at all. Check out the actor’s web site, where the masthead photo shows off his cheekbones and jawline clearly, and compare it to the prototype of the action figure on the same page. They barely resemble each other.

Update: The last two figures from wave one are about to become available for preorders. Sam Anders is on sale now at BigBadToyStore.com, and the Chief will begin being sold from DiamondSelectToys.com any day now. The Anders figure just looks like a guy with muscular arms so I think I’ll skip him, but the Chief is the Chief!
