Damn, how did I not know Annie Lennox was in town last night? From someone else’s blog:
Now to the concert…It blew my expectations away. Annie is not a serious, stiff performer. She was bouncing all over, interacting with the crowd and loosened up as the night went on. I told Randy that “we went to an Annie Lennox concert, and an Eurythmics concert broke out…”. She played all that you would expect then some. The new songs sounded great, the takes on the older, less known Eurythmics songs were great…She really had the crowd, and she mentioned that she really liked us and our energy. One strange thing though, during “Thorn In My Side”, this really tall guy wearing a rubber shirt and this big gas mask (yes…) walked right down the aisle, across the first row, and stood dead center staring right at Annie as she was center stage…she freaked out and left the stage, the security came and escorted him away, and she came back, finishing the song but said a few words on how scary that seemed….she also mentioned that at the end of the show, and apologized for leaving..
The songs were amazing, sounded great and the new take on some arrangements work perfectly, in particularly, “Cold”, which was the best “old” song of the night.
If you have a chance to go see her…run to the ticket window…
Curse the rubber gas-mask guy for freaking her out, what an offensive jerk he must be. I hope he was arrested and not merely escorted out. (Arrested because if shouting “fire” in a crowded theater is a felony, then surely implying that there’s about to a toxin released into a theatre would be the same).
