Peter Jennings’ ABC News special has been given an airdate: Thurs Feb 24th, 8pm. It was pleasant being taped those few months ago, but I don’t know if I am in the final edit for even 20 seconds. Nonetheless I am interested in how Jennings’ production will treat this subject.
The working title was “UFOs and Life in Universe” or something similar. The new, final title for the program -“UFOs: Seeing is Believing” – may suggest that the show’s questions will revolve around whether the minds of those who have alien contact experiences are perceiving something that exists from without or from within.
I don’t know what to expect. I’m experiencing the same excitement/nervousness that I felt before the election, and we know how that turned out.
I don’t particularly care about UFOs, I mean, I am not some kind of technology nerd, except when it comes to projection tvs (so good). But I care about the subject of alien life; I care about if our society shall wake up and realize that all these efforts to reach out and connect with humanity, on the part of those alien folks, is a chance for us to realize we’re part of a larger community. So cheifly, my worry is that if we don’t respond to this sometime soon, the aliens will decide we’re still “living in mud huts” and will respect our position by allowing us to remain in ignorance for another century or two or three. Perhaps I am being selfish by hoping we’ll learn about alien life in my lifetime… but I think on balance we’re ready to know.
