I don't blog much

CD covers not on iTunes

Every once and awhile I may post a scan of a cd cover that doesn’t automatically download from iTunes because it is too obscure, or because it is a promo.

There is probably a more suitable place to do this than my own blog, but, I don’t care to know what it is. Actual size of each of these scans is iTunes-friendly 600 x 600 pixels*, but each is displayed smaller so as not to cause a problem with the blog margins. Simply right click and save.

*Update: I knew this would happen eventually… iTunes is now having artists submit their art at a minimum size of 1425×1425 instead of 600×600. They’re apparently planning ahead to make sure that the covers look good on iTunes’ interface as viewed on large monitors, as well as on the tiny iPod screens. For the moment, 600×600 remains the maximum size you can manually import, so the 1425×1425 appears to be an effort on the part of Apple to future-proof their cover-art collection. Until Apple increases the size you can manually import into iTunes, 600×600 will serve you well. But anyone who scans their own cover art should start scanning at, say, 1600×1600 from now on.

Tegan and Sara‘s promo remixes for “Back in Your Head”. The actual disc has a circular sticker rather than a regular cover but that doesn’t work so well on the display so I extended the burlap of the circular sticker to the edges:

Kristin Hersh “Learn to Sing Like a Star Bonus Disc”:

David Bowie “Strangers When We Meet” promo single:

Joan Jett‘s promo single of her duet with Paul Westerberg, “Backlash”. I’m not really a fan of Joan Jett but this is part of my Paul Westerberg collection:

And another promo duet of Joan and Paul, from the Tank Girl soundtrack, Cole Porter’s “Let’s Do It”:

The Various Artist disc featuring Stuart Davis “Get Naked with the New Avant Garde”:

One of the 50 Foot Wave releases:

Missing Persons‘ “Spring Session M”:

Missing Persons‘ “Rhyme and Reason”:

Missing Persons‘ “Best Of”:

The “Shaken and Stirred” compilation, from The David Arnold James Bond Project:

Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack (rent this movie it is really peculiar):

Sugar & Spice soundtrack:

Marie Antonoinette soundtrack:

Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack:

More Music from Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack:

That’s all for now.
