I don't blog much

Signed sealed undelivered

Sometimes mail just never arrives. That seems to be what I am experiencing as I try to set up higher-interest bank accounts.

I successfully applied online. I was approved online. I received instructions for sending in my first deposit; I wrote my check, wrote my info in the memo field, wrote the envelope to the correct address, took the envelope to the post office counter personally where it was weighed and stamped, and sent it off to New York. Last Tuesday. Now it is seven days later and it evidently hasn’t arrived. Every day since about 3 or 4 days after I mailed it in, I check my checking account to see if the check has been deposited, yet every day there’s no sign of it.

So I’m feeling a bit let down. Maybe a mail truck got in a car accident and blew up into flames. Maybe an airplane full of mail accidentally flew to China. No way to know. It is a mystery.

Update: Ooh, a clue. Another check I wrote for utilities to my housemate does not show as having been processed either, but he tells me it was processed 6 days ago. So perhaps my old bank is not displaying my recent activity due to some error on their part. I hereby apologize for suggesting that the post office mail trucks sometimes explode.
